Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
Demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ.
Focus on shelter.
Advocate for affordable housing.
Promote dignity and hope.
Support sustainable and transformative development.
N.H.F.H. is run by a local board of directors who raise funds; select families, building sites and house plans; supervise construction and administer the mortgages. N.H.F.H. began building homes in 1993. As of 2021, Nassau Habitat completed its 46th home. Our most recent build was our first duplex!
Homes are built for families meeting the requirements. Donations and volunteer labor finance construction. The homes are sold at cost to qualified families through an interest free mortgage issued by N.H.F.H.
N.H.F.H. does not offer short-term housing, rental housing or immediate occupancy.
Habitat families are selected without regard to religion, race, ethnic background, family status, or disability. We abide by the Equal Housing Opportunity Act.
